On impulse, I stopped by National Cathedral to visit the Rose Window. My timing was perfect as the Choral Evensong was beginning, so voices echoed off the stone. Outside, the flying buttresses and gargoyles watched over the fountain into which I threw three pennies, making wishes for me, a family member, and a friend.
